Manage Your Own Content with Our Support

When you need to make content changes, it helps to have an understanding of WordPress, Divi and plugins, but do you need Website Training and Support? Depending on your exerience with content management systems and the complexity of your specific website, you may pick it up easily, or it might feel overwhelming. To build your skills we always recommend text changes first (particularly if you don’t have any experience in manipulating digital photos). The safest and easiest option for beginners is to make text changes in the content area of the page, chosing a page that isn’t your home page. Once you feel comfortable with text changes, you can then tackle image changes by using the Media Library which means you then have the skills to move on to adding a post. After this you may feel confident to add pages, edit the menu and change the header or footer etc. Every website is different, so it will take you a bit of time to get familar with managing content. Having a Care Plan in place means you have our support for technical issues that arise or specific questions. If it still feels difficult though, this is when your might need dedicated training. This falls outside of your Care Plan, and we can advise the best steps based on your experience.

What Is Training?

Training focuses on equipping you with the knowledge and skills to use WordPress and Divi effectively. It is proactive, structured, and typically involves teaching specific features or workflows. For example, a training session might cover:

  • How to navigate the WordPress dashboard.
  • Building pages and posts using the Divi Builder.
  • Customising layouts and adjusting theme settings.
  • Best practices for managing website content and media.

Training empowers you to take control of your website and make informed decisions about its design and functionality. It’s ideal for users who want to enhance their confidence and independence when managing their site. Sessions can range from general overviews to targeted, hands-on tutorials, depending on your specific needs.

What Is Support?

Support, on the other hand, addresses immediate issues or challenges that arise while using WordPress or Divi. It’s reactive and problem-focused, offering solutions to questions like:

  • Why isn’t my plugin working?
  • The dashboard is not loading.
  • Why is my site loading slowly?
  • What does this error message mean?

Website support ensures your website remains functional and accessible, resolving technical hiccups and ensuring smooth operation. It’s not about teaching but about addressing specific problems or providing guidance for a particular issue.

Why the Distinction Matters

Understanding the difference between website training and support ensures you get the assistance you need. For example, if you’re looking to improve your skills and reduce reliance on external help, training is the best option. If you’re experiencing a technical issue that you can’t resolve on your own, support is the appropriate choice.

How Blue Platypus Can Help

At Blue Platypus, we recognise the importance of both training and support for our customers. Our Care Plans ensure that you have access to the support you need when challenges arise, while also providing maintenance done for you. If you have no experience in WordPress and require training, we recommend basic WordPress training though and RTO as it will be comprehensive enough for you to understand the basics of how the web works as well as the software. We can provide short orientation sessions, however these are bespoke to your website and therefore require a quote that falls outside of our Care Plans. If you are not yet on a Care Plan but planning on manageing your own content, we recommend a Care Plan so you have access to our support for any issues or specific questions that come up. Either way, whether you’re troubleshooting a problem or looking to deepen your understanding of these tools, we’re here to assist you every step of the way.
